Bag Filter Vessels

Industrial Filter Manufacturing Limited offers a full line of quality liquid filter bag housings, engineered in a variety of configurations, filtering capacities and materials of construction to suit your specific application.

Whether you are replacing an aging vessel or designing a new filtration system, rest assured you are getting quality workmanship that will perform reliably in industry's most challenging environments. Let us put our years of experience and expertise to work for you.

Filtering contaminate out of a fluid stream follows the same basic principles whether you are using a single, duplex or a multi-bag filter vessel. With all standard filter bag vessels, fluid is processed under pressure into the filter bag(s) from the inlet connection. The fluid then travels through the filter media, removing contaminate as it passes while the resulting clean fluid (filtrate) exits through the vessel outlet and into the application stream. Filter media is designed to trap particles of a particular micron size. Contaminate particles (residue) are retained inside the filter bag for ease of change-out and disposal.

Advantages of a Filter Bag System:

When sizing a vessel for a particular application many variables must be considered; type and viscosity of processed fluid, operating pressure, temperature, flow rate and dirt load. The data collected is analyzed to determine the size and number of the filter bag(s) required. Please refer to the Vessel Design Configuration page to view the standard available options. The chart below relates the size of vessel with the industry standard filter bag sizes and estimated flow rate capacity. The flow rate capacity is only a guideline and is dependent on the variables outlined above. The goal of sizing a filter housing is to achieve a minimized pressure loss (delta P) across the clean filter while understanding maintenance and bag change-out requirements.

Vessel Size   Bag Dimension   Flow rate in US GPM
1 7" x 16.5" OAL 80
2 7" x 32" OAL 150
3 4" x 8" OAL 25
4 4" x 14" OAL 50

To assist you in selecting the right vessel, please see our Vessel Application Guide. This simple one-page form will guide you in providing us with the information required to engineer or design a system best suited for your needs.
